Hayden Allen & Lainey West.
We decided on a double bill for our October social, the first double bill of the year.
Despite the awfull weather, which seems to dominate our social nights this year, we had a full house, I'm sure everyone was as eager to see these artists as we were.
Lainey West had come highly recommended, and although we hadn't actually seen her perform before we decided to take the plunge and book her, but once we had spoken to her on the phone, we felt reasurred that we had certainly done the right thing.
Along with Lainey was an act Hayden Allen, that had last appeared at the Bronze Club some 8 years ago. He was great then, but now he's brilliant.
A slightly nervous Lainey took to the stage for her first spot and was faced by a full room of eager dancers and listeners. I think she was soon put at ease by the appreciative crowd, who were soon up dancing and didn't sit down for the whole of her first spot. What can we say about Lainey West. She had an amazing voice, excellent stage presentation, superb material, if you haven't yet seen her, then it is a MUST. She will definitely be back at the Bronze next year.
Hayden was on stage next. Several people remembered him from 8 years back, but even they were amazed just how fantastic he now sounds. I had asked Hayden to sing solely for the linedancers, and this he did most professionally and all predominately Country. Some great songs and again the dancers filled the floor.
Proceeds from our raffle £158 will be going to charity and it was thanks to everyone who brought along some lovely prizes, in fact approx 90 in total that our raffle took quite some time, with Bill interveneing now and then reading out flyers for local venues and telling the odd joke, and yes they were really 'odd'.
We also had our charity book/jig saw stall which raised £14.60, we will be adding that to our proceeds and hope in November to present the money to our worthwhile cause.
I have to say an emensely huge THANK YOU to our 2 brilliant artists, don't think I've heard as many possitive comments from people as I heard last night about both artists and also all the amazing people that turned out and brought raffle prizes and created such a fantastic atmosphere. Hope to see you all in December when we have Paul Bailey on stage. Don't forget to get your tickets early, over 50% already gone.
